TalonsCove at Saratoga Springs,
located 30 minutes south of Salt
Lake City, Utah finally opened
all 18 holes late last summer,
and has been a stunning surprise
to many curious golfers.
The 6931 yard layout is well on
it's way to being one of Utah's
most definitive golf courses and
a "Must Play" for the upcoming
season. This fabulous new Gene
Bates design challenges the mind
and strength of golfers with a
visual barrage of exceptional
golf holes.
The fist few
holes of the
golf course
let you warm
up a bit
before
unleashing
its claws
upon you
with few
simple
holes. While
they play
seemingly
short, the
holes are by
no means
easy
birdies.
The outward
nine is
defined by 3
jaw-dropping
par 3's,
that will
have you
struggling
to keep your
focus on the
golf with
incredible
views of
Mount Timpanogos and Utah Lake as the
backdrop. One of the menacing par 3's in
particular is the 240 yard sixth, which from
the tee is visually quite intimidating, and
looks like forever to get to the green.
This hole usually has a prevailing wind and
club selection is most difficult. The
large green is very well protected by
signature Gene Bates bunkers and is easily a
3-club green. Once you reach the large
putting surface putting you will
notice subtle undulations that make for
tough birdies. TalonsCove will play
host the the 2005 Utah Open and will surely
be a test of the best golfers.

time this spring.
